Ohio Street
Ohio Street exit from Kennedy Expressway in Chicago. Shot from helicopter one early October morning back in 2011. It was a fun flight: the pilot removed the doors so it was thrilling to sit on a bench with dangling feet way above the city.
On the left it is the River West neighborhood and on the right it is Fulton River District with Grand Ave and diagonal Milwaukee Ave intersecting in the middle. I have been on these express lanes going to and coming from downtown many, many times. And you, probably, have been driving on these lanes yourself. Maybe even today.
For me it looks like a vein system carrying blood of cars and people towards the heart of Chicago. Downtown Chicago is like heart: in the morning the blood rushes in, in the evening it is pumping out. It keeps the whole body of Chicago alive.
