Hull Court at the University of Chicago.

There is a tradition at the University of Chicago when freshmen students walk through the metal Hull Gate and say goodbye to their moms and dads who are not allowed to come along. Fellow students meet them on the other side and give them high-fives, hugs and tissues to wipe their tears.

As they continue and pass through the next stone Cobb Gate they become fresh minted first-year students of the University of Chicago.

“Crescat scientia, vita excolatur”, the motto of the University of Chicago. Let knowledge grow from more to more, and so be human life enriched.
