Art of printmaking
I create all prints myself in my studio. As a professional printmaker I pay attention to every detail and nuance of my prints with one goal – to make them perfect. Most of the prints I make are gallery wrap prints on canvas. Gallery wrap is a method of stretching a canvas print so print extends around the sides of the canvas and attached to the back (not the sides) of the stretcher frame. It is a simple frameless ready-to-hang presentation of your print. Instead of flat art the print becomes a 3-D art – you can see the print not only from front but from sides as well. I build stretcher bars myself and they can be done any depth. I do museum quality framing as well. There is almost infinite number of different frame type, colors and size. Please contact me and we’ll discuss all options.
Gallery wrap fine art prints on canvas
Most of my fine art prints are gallery wrap prints on canvas with sizes from 8×12″ up to mural sizes measured in feet. They are made on thick 1 3/4″ stretcher bars. Bigger sizes can be done on 2 1/2″ stretcher bars. Smaller prints are done on 1″ stretcher bars. The print looks like a solid block with picture extending to all four sides. Gallery wrap prints on canvas have modern clean look and they easily fit into any type of environment. Fine art prints are signed and they are accompanied with a Certificated of Authenticity in the back.
Framed prints
I offer framed prints as well. You can browse different types of museum quality frames in Print Frames section. If you would like to purchase a framed print please contact me for a quote.
Type of canvas
I use exclusively Breathing Color Lyve fine art canvas. I tested many different brands and types of canvas and in my opinion this the best canvas on the market. Breathing Color Lyve canvas is 21mil, 450gsm acid-free matte canvas. It is archival certified and OBA-free, it has amazing color gamut and Dmax. Unlike 99% of available canvas products on the market today, this canvas does not use Optical Brightener Additives. It means that Lyve canvas does not have metamerism and it will not color shift or yellow with the age. Lyve canvas has been archival certified: extensive independent testing has concluded that the Lyve canvas meets and exceeds the standards set forth by the Fine Art Trade Guild for pH and lightfastness.
Other types of paper
Besides fine art canvas I print on any type of fine art paper. Please let me know what type of paper you prefer. There is Breathing Color Elegance Velvet 300gsm fine art paper which has light texture. If you like more pronounce texture Epson Textured Fine Art 225gsm or similar paper would be your choice. For traditional photo presentation Epson Ultra Premium Luster or any Baryta coated fibre paper will give unique look and feel undistinguishable from wet darkroom prints.
Printers and inks
I use HP large format printers. After many years of working with Epson large format printers, I discovered that Epson had started to lag behind its competitors. I switched to HP Z series large format printers and there was no looking back. 12 inks, color gamut and fidelity, in-printer color calibration and profiling in my opinion is the best I have seen.
I use HP Vivera professional pigment inks. They provide an extensive palette of brilliant, life-like colors, deep, rich blacks and true, neutral grays. The chroma area for Vivera inks is significantly larger than the SWOP and ISO benchmarks. Also, Vivera professional inks offer superior display permanence, in excess of 200 years. Vivera pigment inks in contrast to solvent inks (which are basically water-soluble colored liquids) are tiny solid particles of color pigment encapsulated into a thin film of resin. In fact pigment inks are much like acrylic or oil paint you are using to create your artworks.
How the prints are protected
All fine art prints are protected with a liquid laminate. It protects the print from dust, chemicals, water, abrasion and ultraviolet radiation. The varnish can be gloss or matte and anywhere in between. Please let me know if prefer glossy or matte finish for your prints.
Prints longevity
Independent research done by industry leader Wilhelm Imaging Research, Inc shows that the type of prints I make are suppose last without color fading and discoloration for over than 200 years. Also, I am proud offer a lifetime warranty for our prints: if you notice in years to come any color fading and discoloration in the prints I made for you I will replace any of that prints free of charge.
