Teakettle Junction, Death Valley, California
Teakettle Junction, Death Valley, California
Frame it and buy it

36°45'37"N and 117°32'30"W - GPS coordinates for the famous Teakettle Junction in the north side of Death Valley. The story goes that this place has got its name because for years, the only sign of an intersection was a legendary teakettle that lay abandoned by the side of the road. Later the National Park Service installed a sign post and kept the name. Nowadays many teakettles donated by visitors that go either to Racetrack or to the Hunter Mountain. It looks like there is a never-ending game between those who bring their kettles to the Junction and decorate the post like a Christmas tree and the Park Service guys who routinely remove teakettles to make the sign visible.
