Bryce Canyon, Southern Utah
Bryce Canyon, Southern Utah
Frame it and buy it

That was the first time I came to Bryce Canyon in winter. I arrived to the amphitheater rim before sunset. Immediately I was mesmerized with a contrast between dark blue sky and bright hues of red and orange from not yet visible sun at the horizon. I quickly realized that I need a silhouette to make a picture. Franticly running along the rim I found a dead tree lying on a side with its roots up in the air. To show roots against the sky I had to setup my tripod almost at the ground digging into the deep snow. I made several frames and suddenly the sun appeared on the horizon. And it was in a perfect spot. The silhouette of the dead tree was making a gesture like a caring father protecting and welcoming the birth of his child into this world. The birth of a new day.
